Kaprikorn — Where a Lot of Oregon's Weed Actually Starts

Here's something most people don't think about when they're looking at a jar on the shelf: somebody had to grow the plant that grew that plant.

Kaprikorn has been doing that since 2017. They built their name selling clones to recreational cannabis farmers across Oregon — sourcing genetics directly from breeders and cultivating them in-house. Before they were putting flower on dispensary shelves, they were supplying the plants other Oregon farms built their harvests on. There's a real chance a strain you love started in their nursery.

In 2021 they took over an indoor facility in southwest Eugene and started producing their own flower. They won the Oregon Grower's Cup within the first few months of being operational.

The clone side still matters

Kaprikorn has tested for Hop Latent Viroid since 2019. All their mothers come from test-negative stock and get re-tested before entering production.

That matters more than it sounds. HLVd is the quiet killer in cannabis — it stunts plants and guts potency without obvious symptoms, and it's wrecked farms that never knew what hit them. A nursery that tests rigorously is protecting every grower downstream of them.

They also run only one phenotype per strain, so growers know exactly what they're getting. And they hunt constantly — trialing most new strains at least twice before release, harvesting around nine new strains monthly, and only putting the best on the menu.

We hear it back from people who take Kaprikorn clones home. They root well, they take to Oregon conditions, and they stay clean — no pest issues showing up weeks down the line, no mystery stunting halfway through veg.

That's the whole point of buying from a nursery that tests. A cheap clone that brings a viroid or a spider mite population into your grow isn't cheap. Starting with healthy, tested stock is the difference between a season that works and one that doesn't.
